"Good, but may need work" 2009-01-29
By Yuanita Ross
Overall a good product.

I too had a quality issue - the entire adjustable arm assembly was mounted upside-down on the rear plate. Not hard to fix, but if not noticed it would have been discovered while holding the TV up for mounting. Be careful and inspect the item carefully.

BIG WARNING - it only works up to 16" stud width. I have 24" studs, so I had to buy metal bars to mount behind the provided mounting plate, and then mount the plate to the bars. Not the best solution, but workable. Note also that the bolts to mount the TV itself were too small for a Sharp Aquos 65" - you'll need to buy 10M 1.50 40mm.

Once installed, it is very sturdy yet provides amazing range of adjustment. It was some work, but I'm pleased.

 "Flawless!" 2009-01-25

Well packaged, good instruction manual, included all parts (screws, spacers, washers, etc.) needed for any possible compatible TV (8 different sizes of bolts!). The paper template made installation a breeze (you do need two people for large TV's, though). Mount is PLENTY strong (it held my entire body weight from the TV side of the mount at full extension with no problem). With TV mounted, you can easily adjust forward tilt (probably better with two people - there are two bolts to hand adjust), rotational pivot (with one finger), left-right swivel (one handed), or extension (two hands). Cords are able to be hidden inside the arms of the mount.

In summary: I can't find a single flaw with this mount!

"Great value - Great product!" 2009-01-23

This mount is very sturdy and I had no problem mounting my TV to the wall. (46" Samsung) At $200, including shipping, it is less than half the price of the similarly designed Omnimount and Peerless models, and some $400 less than the model Circuit City recommended for the model TV I have. No one in town had a similar mount for anything near this price. For the value it represents, I would recommend it to anyone trying to hang a TV on a wall.

I have never tried hanging anything heavier than a painting on a wall myself, but installed and mounted the cheetah mount myself. The included instructions, and my skill level were adequate to the task, and I do not regularly do any kind of carpentry project. Because of the weight of the mount, (46 lbs.), I do recommend having a helper to at least hold the mount while you mark the wall where you will be drilling. You will also need a helper to attach the TV to the cantilever arm.

If you need a heavy duty mount to hang a heavy TV, this is the mount for you.

 "Poor Quality Control" 2009-01-23

After reading the positive reviews, I decided to purchase this mount for a 52" LCD. The pride in saving $200 over other mounts quickly disappeared after I started to put it together. As you can see from the picture, there are 2 vertical pieces of metal that attach to the back of the TV. The 2 horizontal supports then attach to the vertical pieces (and that unit then connects to the cantilever arms). Because TVs have all ranges of widths, the horizontal supports have moving tracks for the connections where the vertical pieces bolt in to. To keep them completely ed, the place where the bolts go move on tracks with enclosed gears. Basic idea is that the connections can be moved to accommodate the width of the TV where the bolts into the TV go, and the gears make it so if you move one 5" left of , the other one will go exactly 5" to the right of (thus keeping the mount ed on the back of the TV). On mine, however, the top track/gear was fine, but the bottom was incorrectly installed, so that you couldn't even expand the connections, and if you did, it was all off-ed. After an hour or two of trying to pry the gears apart and finally cutting away some pieces, I was able to the track. Bottom line, though, is there was no quality control when this was produced (just looking at it and I could tell there was a problem). If I wasn't fairly handy, I would have had to return the entire product as it was unusable as received.

Once I got past that problem, though, everything was fine. I do like the fact that it is very easy to adjust the TV to level by just rotating the TV. It seems pretty hefty, so I am not concerned with my TV crashing.

 "Quality - yes. Perfect - no." 2009-01-08

I installed the mount last night. First let me state that the components are of exceptional build quality. It's very heavy duty, very rugged, and looks good. Overall, the design worked very well for my application (46" Aquos). The directions were clear and easy to follow.

The mount articulates very well, the adjustments work great! It feels very sturdy and rugged and no doubt will provide years of service.

Now that not so good - I also had the alignment problem with the part that mounts the TV bracket to the mount. I had to disassemble stuff that is not supposed to be disassembled to fix it. Took about 20 minutes of scratching my head to figure it out.

I arrived with some of the cable management covers broken. Not the fault of the design of the mount, just thought I'd throw this in.

The last caveat is that the actual cable management system, while it looks GREAT, is a pain in the rear end to get setup. It took me about 3 hours start to finish to do the mount, and probably another hour of farting around with cables and screws to get them all tucked in nice, very frustrating.

Overall though you should not be disappointed with this mount. It is heavy duty (45 pounds!) and quality stuff, just be ready for some mechanical challanges. Overall a great value.

One last thing - if you have any doubts about your ability to install one of these, do not do it. Hire a professional. There are many chances to make a very expensive error.
