"Great Deal for the Price" 2009-11-24

I used this mount to hang a 42" LCD. It was very easy to put together.

The biggest problem I had with it is it could have been 6-8 inches longer. It only spans 2 studs which make positioning of your set a bit of a pain and/or less stable.

 "Great Price Great Mount" 2009-11-22

This is my first tv mount and it works great. It has been holding up my 42" plasma above the fireplace for a couple months now with no movement.

The only thing that could be improved on is if it came with instructions on setting on stone or brick, but I was able to figure it out on my own.

"Overall good product for the price, but needs a few design changes." 2009-11-09
By Michael G. Emmons (Los Angeles, CA USA)
For the price, this is a good product. The build seems plenty strong to carry the indicated 160 lb max weight and the glossy finish on the product is nice, even if you'll never see it once it's installed. Assembly is a straight-forward, simple process, which is good for me because I'm about as mechanically disinclined as they come. If I can install it, _anyone_ can. Having said that, though, there are a few issues with this mount.

The primary issue is that wall studs in US construction are spaced at 16" intervals, but the screw holes in the mount are not. So, you will only be able to get a single column of screw holes to line with a stud. The rest will need to go into drywall (assuming your walls aren't concrete). My advice would be to go to your nearest hardware store and pick up 6-8 100 lb drywall screws. This will ensure that the frame isn't going anywhere.

A secondary issue, and this is probably true for all non-swing wall mounts, is that you have no access to the back of the TV if you need to add a component hookup. To do so you'll have to take the TV off the wall. Not particularly hard to do and adding components isn't something that should happen very often, so this is a minor quibble.

Finally, the built-in level is indeed inaccurate. Mine did come with an additional level, which I used alongside my own level, one on each side of the frame, to ensure the frame was plumb. It seems like they could have saved a small amount on cost by eliminating the useless built-in level, which would also add a bit of extra rigidity to the frame as well.

Would I buy this product again? For the price, certainly. Although it would be nice if the mount holes were US standard spacing, this isn't a deal breaker for me.

 "Would by again" 2009-11-02

Was a little worried and when I discovered it wasn't one solid piece. However the overall construction is solid and very sturdy. I would buy this again no problem when I get more LCD TVs.
